April 25, 2003
We decided today to add a meeting to our upcoming schedule: Monday, April 28, 2003, 9am-11am in Skiles 010.
Today we worked out an order for the committee member section that would include the following:
- Introduction to the tool
- Case, i. e. the omniscient narrative with links to pertinent
documents (elements of c.v., excerpts from letters of reference,
excerpts from the candidate narrative), condensed disciplinary
standards (numbered range of scholarly products expected),
policies/procedures, unit precedents
- Scenario of the p & t meeting with spots for intervention
that prompt the user to make a choice of reactions to bias (question,
challenge, acquiesce/ignore). User would be able to access pertinent
documents listed above and on second pass might be able to see links to
the RPT letter.
- Committee decision with excerpts of RPT letter.
- Case Review
- Opportunity to review case, scenario, letter in order to highlight
bias and follow links to reference materials (best practices, unit
procedures, BoR guidelines, and bibliography of bias issues in
evaluation)
- Opportunity to review another case, scenario, letter, documents, links
We also discussed the visual scheme and conventions of using the
balloon to show one person's contribution to the scenario. We bracketed
the question of where to put the running transcript for reference on
the first or subsequent uses.
